Police Seeking Information Regarding Local Burglaries

During the months of August and September the Sycamore Police have investigated at least 8 burglaries to local businesses. Sycamore Police Investigators are seeking information regarding these burglaries. Also, anyone who sees anything suspicious is encouraged to call the police immediately. Sycamore Uses Parking Boot to Enforce Parking

May 23, 2008 the City of Sycamore used its new 'parking boot' for the first time. The use of a parking boot was approved by the Sycamore City Council on April 21 in order to immobilize vehicles failing to pay parking fines. A vehicle becomes eligible for immobilization once the owner has at least five outstanding parking violations and a minimum of $250 in outstanding fines. As of June 2, the City has applied the parking boot to two vehicles. Both booted vehicle owners paid their fines within hours. Once payment was received by the City Sycamore officers immediately removed the parking boot.

Violence Threat at Sycamore High School - Police Response

Chief Donald Thomas announced today that the Sycamore Police Department is investigating a general threat of violence to occur at the Sycamore High School on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Police and Sycamore School officials have met to enact preventative measures at the high school.

Sycamore High School received a non-specific threat on Sunday, March 2, 2008 regarding possible violence on Tuesday, March, 4, 2008. School District officials are enacting preventative safety measures in cooperation with the Sycamore Police Department to provide a safe learning environment for students.
