Street-Side Parking During Snowfall

With the winter driving season nearly upon us, the Sycamore Police department in conjunction with the Sycamore Public Works department would like to remind citizens about Sycamore's snow ordinance. The city does its best to maintain and remove snow from the roads; however, finds it very difficult to plow when vehicles and other objects are in their path. The city is asking for citizen's cooperation in removing their vehicles from the road during a snowfall. Sycamore's snow ordinance (6.2.7) reads in part:
'It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on any public street or in any city parking lot after a snowfall of two inches (2') or more has occurred unless the snow has been plowed off or otherwise removed from the pavement. After a two inch (2') snowfall, the police department is hereby authorized to ticket, remove and/or tow away any said vehicle or any other obstruction at the owner's expense; provided, however, if it is an overnight snowfall, there will be no enforcement until seven o'clock (7:00) A.M'.
